Humification in several forest ecosystems of the Toledo Province (Spain)

Humification in several forest ecosystems of the Toledo Province (Spain)

Anales del Jardin Botanico de Madrid 37(1): 129-141

The humus of representative forest ecosystems is described. In woodlands of Pinus pinea/Juniperus oxycedrus/Quercus rotundifolia/Q. pyrenaica/Castanea sativa on granite the humus is forest mull and mull-moder with abundant fulvic acids and less polymerized humic acids. Humification is better in woodlands of C. sativa. Under brushwoods of Q. coccifera on clay, mesotrophic forest mull occurs, with little polymerization of humic acid.
