Humus replenishment in the plowed soils of the non-Chernozem belt

Humus replenishment in the plowed soils of the non-Chernozem belt

Soviet Soil Science 11(3): 313-317

Some generalized results from long-term experiments at stations in Kiev, Zhitomir, Gomel', Minsk, Moscow, Ivanovo and Kirov oblasts and in the Tatar ASSR are reported. A regression equation is obtained, which associates the variation of humus reserves in the plow layer of Sod-Podzolic soils with the proportion of row crops in a crop rotation, with the organic and mineral fertilizers applied, the textural clay content of the soil, and the radiational aridity index.
