Hungarian agriculture faces prospect of two poor harvest years

Hungarian agriculture faces prospect of two poor harvest years

Agra Europe, UK (895): N/3-N/4

Prospects for the second half of the current Hungarian five year plan are poor, following poor harvests and floods. Total deliveries to state purchasing agencies in the first half of 1980 were down by 2.2% on 1979. The main factor was a 20% decline for crop product (fruit and vegetables, -35% and -30%). Livestock products increased by 0.7% despite a 26.3% decrease for eggs. Milk deliveries increased 5.2% and meat by 1%. Agricultural exports have also fallen.
