In field trials in Martinique, sorghum X Sudan grass Sudax II was sown in Feb., April, Aug. or Nov., grown with or without irrigation and cut at 40-50 cm or 90-100 cm ht. or at full heading. Sowing in Aug. gave the highest DM yields (59.1 t and 28.4 t/ha) and sowing in Nov. the lowest (49.0 t and 17.1 t/ha) after 12 months with and without irrigation, resp. Cutting at the start of heading was recommended, as DM yields were more than or equal to 30% higher than those from other cutting regimes.
