Hybrid wheat-soyabean association. 1. Trials under conditions of limiting water supply

Hybrid wheat-soyabean association. 1. Trials under conditions of limiting water supply

Comptes Rendus des Seances de l' Academie d' Agriculture de France 66(7): 714-724

In Nov. 1977, wheat (a) Talent and the F1 hybrid (b) Capitole X Chrismar were sown either in pure stand in rows 17 cm apart or in 34-cm rows with inter-row sowing of inoculated soyabean Amsoy 71 or Hodgson in April 1978. Plots were given 90 kg N, 100 kg P2O5 and 100 kg K2O/ha. Yields of undersown wheat were good reaching 80-85% of yields in pure stand ((a) 2.8 and (b) 3.77 t/ha). In pure stand Hodgson outyielded Amsoy 71 by 10% but was less tolerant of low water supply.
