Hybridization between Cowania mexicana var. stansburiana and Purshia glandulosa (Rosaceae)

Hybridization between Cowania mexicana var. stansburiana and Purshia glandulosa (Rosaceae)

Madrono 28(1): 13-25

The hybrid combination Cowania mexicana var. stansburiana X Purshia glandulosa has been observed at two locations in Inyo Co., California. Morphological intermediacy, reduced fertility, and the addition of species-specific flavonoids document hybridization in the narrow altitudinal zone of the species' overlap at these localities.
