The genetic characteristics of 3 biotypes of Nilaparvata lugens (Stal) that possess the ability to attack different resistant varieties of rice were studied in the Philippines by analyses of the food-plant preference response, the ability to feed on a given variety and the nymphal development of the 3 biotypes and their inter-biotypic hybrid progenies.
