In field trials in 1974-6, potatoes Sokol, Sowa, Pola and Narew were given 5 different combinations of 40-200 kg N + 40-200 kg P2O5 + 60-300 kg K2O/ha, and the content and yield of starch and protein in tubers investigated. FYM had been applied 3-4 yr previously. Over the 3-yr period, increasing NPK tended to decrease the tuber starch content, but increased the total protein content.
