The paper studies small farming systems in Nepal with a view to evaluting production systems and making recommendations to enable farmers to improve the level of farm business income and family living standards. Problems of Nepal's agricultural economy are discussed. Results of a sample survey in 1975 of three villages (a hill, a valley and a Terai village) in the Far Western Development Region of Nepal are analyzed.
