Interrelationships of pasture production, pasture utilization and animal production from grazed pastures on Kangaroo Island, South Australia

Interrelationships of pasture production, pasture utilization and animal production from grazed pastures on Kangaroo Island, South Australia

Proceedings of the 13th International Grassland Congress Sectional Papers, Section 6: 355-361

In trials on Kangaroo Island, S. Australia, Merino wethers were grazed continuously for 4 yr at a stocking rate of 10-17 sheep/ha on a natural 20-year-old pasture dominated by subterranean clover Yarloop and Hordeum leporinum and on a similar site improved by tillage and resowing with perennial ryegrass Victorian/subterranean clover Mt. Barker and Woogenellup. Data on DM production, crude utilization and available DM are given.
