Spring wheat Leader combines resistance to wheat stem sawfly with a low level of alpha -amylase activity. It is adapted to the brown soil zones of Alberta and Saskatchewan and yielded 2.69 t/ha, compared with 2.68, 2.93 and 2.81 t from Chester, Columbus and Neepawa, resp. Developed in Saskatchewan, Leader hard red spring wheat combines resistance to Cephus cinctus Nort. with a low level of alpha -amylase activity. It is adapted to the Brown soil zones of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
