Migration as a factor in the community structure of a macroarthropod litter fauna



American Naturalist 115(4): 606-612



Isolated plots were set up in an oak woodland such that one group (the experimentals) had interplot migration while another group (the controls) had none. The plots were composed of a mixture of composted organic matter and red maple-leaf litter. The experimental plots differed from the controls, in that twice each week one-quarter of the litter was removed from each to another plot.
