In a greenhouse trial, tall fescue Ky 31 was grown in an (a) Evesboro loamy sand or a (b) Fauquier silt loam to which 4 sewage sludge rates, 2 lime rates, and 2 N and 2 P rates were applied in a factorial design. Total N uptake was greater in (a) than in (b); plant N content was linearly related to sewage sludge rate in both soils. During 167 days of growth the plant utilized approx. 8% of the sewage sludge N and 80% of the fertilizer N.
