Normal haematological and serum biochemical parameters of guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus)

Indian Veterinary Journal 58(5): 359-365

Blood samples were taken from 100 guinea pigs (60 male, 40 female), 6-8 months old weighing 400-550 g. Mean values were: erythrocyte count 4750 million/mm3, haemoglobin 13.38 g/100 ml, erythrocyte sedimentation rate 1.48 mm/h, haematocrit 40.27%, mean corpuscular volume 88.72 fl, mean corpuscular haemoglobin 29.04 pg and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration 33.33 g/dl.
