Data were collected on native sheep (Marwari and its crosses with Jaisalmeri and other dark-faced sheep) and on quarter-breds from crossing with Avikalin-strain rams. For 99 native and 65 quarter-bred lambs resp., birth weight averaged 2.64 and 2.89 kg, 12-mth weight 19.80 and 21.19 kg, and weight at 1st mating 23.55 and 24.90 kg, all differences being highly significant.
