Note on the effect of type of floor and concentrate supplementation on growth of buffalo heifers

In a 2 X 2 factorial experiment, 4 groups of 5 calves each were allotted to 2 floor types (brick or dirt) with or without concentrate supplementation at 0.2% of body weight. For calves on the brick floor, with and without supplement, and for calves on dirt, with and without supplement, weekly weight gain over the 4-month experimental period averaged 5.76, 5.04, 5.19 and 4.78 kg resp., the effects of floor and supplementation being significant.
