Pathological changes in the organs of young beavers infected with Salmonella enteritidis Gartner

Examination of ten beavers aged 11-35 days that had died from S. enteritidis infection in a beaver farm revealed acute septic and toxic changes. Acute catarrhal enteritis was accompanied by focal necroses and petechial haemorrhages. Spleens were grossly enlarged and liver, kidney and myocardial tissues showed granular dystrophy. The severest histological lesions were found in liver.
