Peasant struggle in a feudal setting. A study of the determinants of the bargaining power of tenants and small farmers in five villages of District Attock, Pakistan, 1980

Peasant struggle in a feudal setting. A study of the determinants of the bargaining power of tenants and small farmers in five villages of District Attock, Pakistan, 1980

Working Papers, World Employment Programme Research, International Labour Office (WEP 10/WP 11): 47

The study examines the factors that make peasants change from passive recognition of their wrongs to direct actions to redress these wrongs. It looks into the extent and form of this direct action, whether it is locally engineered or whether it is a sustained movement or organized struggle which challenges the legitimacy of the existing power structure.
