Photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal conductance in Zea mays leaves as affected by their irradiance at normal and inverse position

Photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal conductance in Zea mays leaves as affected by their irradiance at normal and inverse position

Photosynthetica 14(4): 482-488

Attached maize leaves of different insertion levels were exposed to various photon fluence rates (I) incident upon either adaxial (normal position) or abaxial (inverse position) surfaces, and CO2 uptake (PN) and transpiration (E) rates were measured in a bilateral leaf chamber for the 2 leaf surfaces separately. The light response curves for PN and E were analysed and the relationship between PN and E as influenced by the stomatal conductance (gs) increase was studied.
