Physiological age determination in female Stomoxys calcitrans Linnaeus (Diptera: Muscidae)



Onderstepoort Journal of Veterinary Research 47(2): 83-88



In connection with the determination of the physiological age of adult females of Stomoxys calcitrans (L.) using the techniques of O.S. Kuzina and T.S. Detinova it was shown that the primary sex organs consisted of a single pair of ovaries, each containing 80-100 polytrophic ovarioles. A natural population of females can be grouped according to age into different reproductive categories.
