Plant regeneration from in vitro cultures of stem internodes in self-incompatible triploid Lycopersicon peruvianum Mill. and cytogenetic analysis of regenerated plants

Among 64 plants regenerated from in vitro cultures of stem internodes from a self-incompatible triploid clone, two were diploid, 33 were triploid, 28 were hexaploid and the remaining plant was a periclinal chimera. The chimera had triploid tissue in the L1 layer and hexaploid tissue in the L2 and L3 layers. The triploids and hexaploids were self incompatible, despite their possessing heteroallelic S loci.
