Possibilities of using induced mutagenesis in breeding tobacco

Possibilities of using induced mutagenesis in breeding tobacco

B"lgarski Tyutyun 24(11): 38-42

Seeds of LHSE68 and 1349 were treated with 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2% solutions of diethyl sulphate for 6 and 24 h at 24 deg C. A study of the M1-M5 revealed four groups of mutants: morphological, physiological, chlorophyll and sterile. The highest percentage of mutants was obtained with 0.1 and 0.2% solutions applied for 6 h. The percentage of useful mutants was highest with 0.1% solution.
