Surveys at Kropelin in the German Democratic Republic show that Stellaria media, Matricaria spp., Veronica hederifolia and Galium aparine are major problem weeds of winter wheat in the area. The level of infestation of S. media and Matricaria spp., particularly in respect to the population of V. hederifolia and to the total weed population, is shown to be dependent on the preceding crop and on the time of sowing the winter wheat.
