Recovery and in vitro cultivation of a coronavirus from laboratory-induced cases of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP)

Recovery and in vitro cultivation of a coronavirus from laboratory-induced cases of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP)

Veterinary Medicine, Small Animal Clinician 75(5): 811-814

FIP-free kittens were inoculated i/p with 1 ml of 10% liver homogenate containing FIP virus. When they showed obvious signs of the disease, peritoneal fluid was harvested. The percentage of immunofluorescence-positive cells in each extraction varied between 5 and 80. The number of FIP positive cells recovered decreased with passage.
