Reducing soybean harvest losses

Reducing soybean harvest losses

Louisiana Agriculture 23(4): 18-20

The effects on harvesting losses of selected cultural practices and methods of operating harvesting machinery were studied in 1978-9 on Forrest, Davis and Bragg. Row spacing, the speed of combines during harvest, use of a flexible cutter bar header, delay of harvest beyond maturity of the crop and the use of Benlate were investigated. Sowing date, and conditions dictated the best row spacing, but for max. yields the row spacing did not need to exceed 30 in.
