Relative influence of age and body weight at first calving on milk production of Kenya Sahiwal cattle



African Journal of Agricultural Sciences 5(2): 29-32



540 body weight, age and milk records of Sahiwal cows collected during 1968-71 were analysed. The animals were classified into 6 groups for age at 1st calving ( less than or equal to 35, 36-37, 38-39, 40-41, 42-45 and >45 mth) and into 6 groups for body weight at 1st calving ( less than or equal to 320, 321-340, 341-360, 361-380, 381-400 and >400 kg). Body weight at 1st calving significantly affected 1st-lactation milk yield, but age at 1st calving did not.
