Requirements of prawn, Penaeus japonicus, for essential fatty acids

Requirements of prawn, Penaeus japonicus, for essential fatty acids

Memoirs of Faculty of Fisheries, Kagoshima University 28: 27-33

Groups of 30 tiger prawns (Peaeus japonicus) of mean bodyweight 0.15 g were given for 50 days a diet with 5% oleic acid as lipid source, or linoleic or linolenic acid 0.5, 1 or 2% replaced equal weight or oleic acid. In a 2nd trial eicosapentaenoic or docosahexaenoic acid 0.5, 1 or 2% replaced equal oleic acid, or 5% pollack liver oil replaced the 5% oleic acid in diet. Fatty acids were added to diet as methyl esters.
