The paper provides background information on the work of the programme on the Use and Management of Natural Resources (NRP) of the UN University in Southeast Asia, especially in countries where natural resource conservation problems have reached crisis status. Southeast Asian countries will benefit since the programme will focus on particular problems of the region.
