Inoculation of seeds of 2 chickpea with 8 Rhizobium strains increased the number of nodules/plant from 1 to 18-45, except the 2 strains DNRa-1 and IC-13 which produced only 3 nodules/plant. Inoculation of seeds of large-seeded kabuli-type Syrian Local with Rhizobium strain CC-1192 and of small-seeded desi-type NEC 2304 with strain IC-20 gave the highest nodule wt.
