Research experience with zero tillage in Ontario

Research experience with zero tillage in Ontario

Proceedings of the International Soil Tillage Research Organization, ISTRO 8th Conference 1979 Volume 1: 27-32

In experiments in S. Ontario in 1964-78, av. maize yields were c. 11% lower with zero tillage than with conventional tillage. Yield reductions with zero tillage were lower on coarse textured soils or when maize followed a perennial grass/legume sward and were possibly due to higher soil density and less favourable size distributions.
