Research into, and experimental verification of, various systems of goose fattening

Hybrid geese were fattened to 56 days of age in battery cages or in floor pens. Males fattened in cages were 6.49% heavier, and females were 2.79% lighter, than birds kept on the floor. Carcass quality was good with both systems of fattening. Feed intake/kg gain was 3.69% less for males kept in cages and 2.12% less for females kept in cages, compared with birds kept on the floor.
