Research on clinical latency and human trypanotolerance in the couloir focus of the river Congo

Cahiers ORSTOM, Entomologie Medicale et Parasitologie 19(1): 33-40

In Ngabe, Congo Republic, there is a long-standing focus of infection with Trypanosoma gambiense. In March 1980, a survey of 1678 persons revealed 32 positive for trypansomes and 252 positive by the immunofluorescent test. 93 of these patients had been examined in previous surveys but had never received treatment; 22 were considered to be new infections and 71 were long-standing cases.
