Research on esophageal cancer in China: a review

Research on esophageal cancer in China: a review

Cancer Research 40(8 Pt 1): 2633-2644

In the People's Republic of China, massive epidemiological studies show the prevalence of oesophageal cancer, especially in the Taihang Mountain range areas in the north. Gullet cancer in chickens is prevalent in the high-incidence area of Linxian in Henan, suggesting the presence of cancer-causing substances in the environment. Research on the aetiology of that cancer has been pursued extensively. Mouldy food and pickled vegetables contain carcinogens.
