The possibility of synthetic pyrethroids exerting a repellent effect on aphids after they had lost their direct toxicity was investigated in Florence, Italy, using Myzus persicae (Sulz.) (Myzodes persicae) reared on Sinapis alba in pots in the laboratory and Aphis fabae Scop. infesting Vicia faba var. major (Faba vulgaris var. mayor) in the field.
