609 Czech Pied (CP) and Dutch Black Pied (DBP) cows were mated with CP, Charolais and Limousin bulls. Ease of calving score on a 3-point scale (1 point = the easiest) averaged 1.35 for CP X DBP matings vs. 1.84, 1.69, 1.47 and 1.60 for Charolais X CP, Charolais X DBP, Limousin X CP, and Limousin X DBP matings resp., the differences between matings using Charolais and CP sires being highly significant.
