Research on the vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhiza of grapevines. Attempts at mycorrhizal synthesis in the laboratory and further identification of the endophyte

Research on the vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhiza of grapevines. Attempts at mycorrhizal synthesis in the laboratory and further identification of the endophyte

Annali della Facolta di Scienze Agrarie della Universita degli Studi di Torino79; 11: 239-254

Root samples collected in Piedmont vineyards showed a wide occurrence of mycorrhizae in the region. The endophytes concerned were identified from their chlamydospore characteristics as Glomus fasciculatus and G. mosseae. Infection of grapevine roots was achieved in the laboratory using a sterilized soil/vermiculite substrate. In Piedmont infection was widespread and heavy. Chlamydospores were identified as those of Glomus fasciculatus and G. mosseae.
