Researches on a crayfish disease caused by Psorospermium haeckeli

Researches on a crayfish disease caused by Psorospermium haeckeli

Freshwater Crayfish 4: 411-418

The results of studies on Psorospermium haeckeli infections of Astacus leptodactylus from Brittany, France, are described. The carapace of heavily infected adult or juvenile crayfish is usually marked with orange spots, especially in the abdominal region: the mortality of these crayfish is high, especially during the moulting periods. Parasites are most abundant in the peripheral connective tissue, but a wide variety of other tissues may be affected.
