Reserve starch of rose petals as a source of direct precursors of essential oil constituents

Reserve starch of rose petals as a source of direct precursors of essential oil constituents

Fiziologiya i Biokhimiya Kul' turnykh Rastenii 12(6): 632-635

Metabolism in the petals of the essential oil rose Michurinka was studied at different stages of flower development. Starch content decreased sharply during intensive essential oil accumulation. In experiments using 14C-sucrose the label was taken up by the essential oil either from previously labelled starch or direct from 14C-sucrose.
