Reserves of nutrient in the litter of Pinus patula plantations in Darjeeling Himalayas

Reserves of nutrient in the litter of Pinus patula plantations in Darjeeling Himalayas

Indian Forester 106(12): 877-884

Ash, Si, Ca, Mg, K, Na, N and P were measured in litter (subdivided into actual litter and duff in plantations 8-34 yr old at Raman The size of the nutrient reserves depended on stand density and age. Total litter reached 66.7 t/ha at 34 yr old (64 stems/ha); nutrient content generally followed the trend Si>N>Ca>K>Mg>P>Na, with Mg>K in 2 stands.
