In 1977, P2O5 at 10, 80 or 150 kg/ha was broadcast as single superphosphate as Jaragua grass was being sown into a sandy silt soil with a pH of 5.5 and containing 3 p.p.m. P and 32 p.p.m. K. 4 cuts were taken during the 2nd yr to estimate forage yield and chemical composition. DM yield, P and Ca content increased with P application and were 6.0, 6.7 and 7.1 t DM/ha, 0.13, 0.16 and 0.18% and 0.47, 0.5 and 0.6% for 10, 80 and 150 kg P/ha, resp.
