Residual toxicity of some selected insecticides in paddy based on bioassy of brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens (Stal)

Residual toxicity of some selected insecticides in paddy based on bioassy of brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens (Stal)

Indian Journal of Entomology 42(2): 318-320

A laboratory study was carried out in India to test the effectiveness of several insecticides against Nilaparvata lugens (Stal) on rice plants. Third-instar nymphs were released on to the plants and their mortality was recorded 48 h after release. Acephate, carbaryl, chlorfenvinphos, DDT, dimethoate, fenthion, isofenphos, malathion, phosphamidon, phoxim and quinalphos resulted in 100% mortality of nymphs in 24 h, while dimethoate, endosulfan and phosalone gave mortalities of 93.3-96.7%.
