Residual value of superphosphate applied to tobacco on a granitic sand in north Queensland

In a greenhouse experiment using tomato as a test plant, the P and Ca status of virgin and cultivated granitic soils was determined. All virgin soils were deficient in plant-available P, but previous tobacco cropping increased available P and Ca. In the field, soil P increased with superphosphate dressings, and between Olsen's P of 8 p.p.m. and B.S.E.S.
