Since the establishment in 1973 of a legal max. concn. for chlorinated pesticides in animal products, the amount of residues in milk produced in the German Federal Republic has decreased and in 1978 av. concn. was <10% of the max. permitted concn. for all the pesticides monitored except for alpha - and beta -HCH (30%) and lindane (20%).
