Resistance in soft red winter wheat to Mycosphaerella graminicola

Six cvs. and 4 breeding lines that had shown levels of resistance in the field were inoculated in the glasshouse with pycnidiospores of M. graminicola. Differences were found in both leaf area affected and number of pycnidia/mm2 of lesion among cvs. at all growth stages, from pseudostem erection to midmilk. More differences were detected at the later growth stages. The Oasis, with resistance from Bulgaria 88, was consistently the most resistant, and Momon was the most susceptible.
