Resistance in soyabean to Nezara viridula and Piezodorus guildinii under field conditions

In field tests in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil, to evaluate varietal resistance in soyabean to attack by Nezara viridula (L.) and Piezodorus guildinii (Westw.), it was noted that damage by the bugs was more severe on the upper than the lower part of the plants. The variety IAC 73-223 had the lowest percentage of damaged seeds on tne upper half of the plant (48.1), the introduced varieties PI 171451 and PI 229358 had 71.1-79.1% damaged seeds and 3 local varieties had about 85-97% damaged seeds.
