Resistance in soybeans to the southern green stink bug

To identify resistance to Nezara viridula (L.), 894 soyabean introductions and 26 cultivars in Maturity Groups V-VIII were evaluated in single-row field plots in Louisiana in 1975-79. On the basis of visual damage, damage ratings were made by classifying 100 seeds selected at random from each sample into 4 categories (none, light, medium and severe). Earlier genotypes were generally found to have less damage than later maturing ones.
