Resistance mechanism involved in the penetration and colonization of poplar leaf tissues by Melampsora rust

Resistance mechanism involved in the penetration and colonization of poplar leaf tissues by Melampsora rust

Phytopathologia Mediterranea 19: 27-29

The germination of urediospores of M. larici-populina and the development of germ tubes on poplar leaves are largely determined by host resistance. Poorer spore germination and slower development of germ tubes on the resistant Populus maximowiczii and P. deltoides B-60 are due to a chemical factor.
