Resistance of Norway spruce in various conditions of recreation pressure

Resistance of Norway spruce in various conditions of recreation pressure

Lesnoi Zhurnal (1): 27-31

Investigations were made in stands of Norway spruce of medium density and good site class, aged 80-100 years, on nine plots in three areas in a recreation forest near Moscow. Three plots in each of 3 areas, viz. with light, moderate and heavy recreation usage, were studied. The proportion of healthy trees declined from 72% on the plots with light usage to only 24% on those with heavy recreation usage.
