Resistance of mice treated with Lactobacillus casei against infection with Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Candida albicans

Resistance of mice treated with Lactobacillus casei against infection with Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Candida albicans

Medicine and Biology, Japan 101(1): 29-32

Groups of 10 ddY strain mice were treated intraperitoneally with live or dead cultures of Lactobacillus casei YIT 0003 before infection (72, 48 or 24 h later) with Candida albicans, Serratia marcescens or Klebsiella pneumoniae. Mice not treated with L. casei died within 24 h of infection with S. marcescens and K. pneumoniae and within 48 h of infection with C. albicans.
