Observations during 1971-73 and during the severe spread of the disease in 1976 enabled Rubus odoratus, R. crataegifolius and R. cockburnianus to be identified as immune and Newburgh, Turner, Sladkaya and Chief to be identified as highly resistant among 102 varieties and species.
